[1337-028] Hooved – Mizar EP


Our first EP for 2013 is about to hit the stores. We’re happy to welcome Hooved to our little family, an Italian DJ/Producer and lover of minimalistic House and Techno music which is clearly reflected in his own productions. On this release he presents well designed arrangements with many different musical elements that keep the tracks interesting and fluid. The first track called ‘Mizar’ is a funky minimal track full of little surprises. A variety of interesting samples and field recordings twisted and reshaped, wandering alongside a straight 4×4 beat underlined by a heavy bassline. The original version is followed by a remix from Berlin based Ninca Leece. Her interpretation turns the track into a more melodic direction topped with some great vocal parts. The last piece on this release ‘The Rise And Fall’ has a dry beat, spiced up with organic melodies, percussions and wildly mangled vocalfx. [1337-027] Weider Terlouw – Thoughts And Things EP


Here we go again, this time with an awesome EP by Weider Terlouw from the Netherlands. He released his first EP on vinyl in 2005 and has since expanded to create many original and provoking tracks. At present, his songs and live acts vary from dub to minimal techno. The current EP includes some bouncy minimal with lot’s of clicks and cuts. In his arrangements he’s paying much attention to the little details which make his tracks interesting and keep the listener entertained. Complex structures merging with a variety of percussive elements, field recordings and dark pads. From playful minimal to deep mysterious sounds, Weider Terlouw presents an EP that is full of surprises. The first track ‘Zee’ is dominated by a mysetrious pad wandering alongside of well selected percussive elements and melodic bits. The second track named ‘Remain Objective’ is a more trippy approach with cleverly arranged hats floating around weird and magical sounding textures. The next track perfectly connects with the last, like a continuous story being told, it has the same mysterious yet magical edge and creative arranged percussions. The EP ends with ‘Route Run’, a funky minimal track with a variety of clicks and cuts, perfectly put together with a lot of interesting samples and very well arranged patterns.
