Philip Rauh

Philip Rauh aka Subjunk was born in Munich and grew up in the countryside outside of the city. His passion for music started at a very early age with an obsessive need to collect all kinds of music possible. In his youth he was a member of a band and during that time his fascination for rhythms and beats resulted in countless hours of trying to teach himself the very basics of playing the drums. After the band broke up several years later, the pure consumption of music did not satisfy him enough. This lead him to explore new sound worlds and technics that he found in electronic music. One of his biggest influences and inspirations at this time was the old ‘Ultraschall’ club in Munich.

With the closing of this legendary club, the ‘Harry Klein’ club became its successor. This was where he got to know the ‘Bleimantel’ party crew in the beginning of 2004. As one of their internet radio residents and event organizers, he could give free space to his musical inspiration. Moving to Berlin in fall 2004 he founded the outpost of the ‘Bleimantel’ radio. Around this time he got to know Sebastian Koch with whom he continued to manage the radio showcases. With the break up of the ‘Bleimantel’ crew, ‘Spiel-Trieb’ was born. Working in close cooperation with the ‘Harry Klein’ club, broadcasting live music and visuals via their radio internet stream, ‘Spiel-Trieb’ has continued to this day what ‘Bleimantel’ started.

Switching between Munich and Berlin, Philip played in various bars and clubs, as well as completing his studies in Architecture. In 2007 he founded the label ’31337 Records’ along with his two friends 0x7f and Sebastian Koch as a platform for international artists to release quality music. Their focus lies mainly on minimal techno / house, dub and experimental electronic music. The label is working together with well known artists as well as always trying to support fresh, talented newcomers.
