[1337-023] 0x7f – As The World Burns We Watch TV.. EP

The year starts off with a new release straight from the 31337 management! Label head Stefan Klaas aka 0x7f presents his EP ‘As The World Burns We Watch TV’, a classy selection of tracks filled with ambience and mixed with a bit of tech-house and dub. 0x7f doesn’t follow any standards or trends and has a distinct feel for deep melodic tunes with lots of clicks and field recordings wrapped into complex minimalistic sound structures.

While the title shows a critical view on parts of todays society, the EP doesn’t reflect negative thoughts and simply invites the listener to let the mind wander and thoughts flow. Along the 3 original tracks there are 3 fabulous remixes by Akiko Kiyama, Ditch and Sil from the Easy Changes duo. Akiko delivers a wonderfully unique remix of

‘Surface’ that brings in some fresh elements and turns the track around into a new and interestingly mysterious direction. A well structured flow with lots of true minimalism, carefully chosen patterns and straight to the point. Ditch presents a very creative, dark interpretation of ‘Virtualized’, filled with samples that leave some kind of industrial impression. A pounding beat that slowly comes out of the shadows, surrounded by a field of percussions and well selected cuts. Sil pushed the boundaries and made a remix aimed at the dancefloor. Well arranged and cut up percussions emerging between twisted samples and melodic bits and pieces that turn the original track upside down and inside out. Of course with the typical Easy Changes style.

[1337-022] Pheek – Mr. Steger’s Space Capsule EP

After working with Pheek for so long, we are more than happy to finally publish a release by our dear friend Jean-Patrice Rémillard! The EP is a wonderful mix of spaced out minimal techno, dub and ambient, creatively arranged with a complex minimalistic structure. Step into Mr. Steger‘s Space Capsule and prepare to escape planet earth with our astronauts Pheek, Hubble and Marc Neyen. Captain Pheek sets course to explore the unknown and you are invited to follow our artists into new imaginary worlds full of playful ambience and lovely repetitive beats.

Put on your spacesuit and get yourself ready for a wild ride that starts with the first track called ‚Making Organic Mechanic‘, an abstract and trippy voyage for your mind. Beware of organic elements turning into mechanic pads while we travel through deep space.

Enjoy the view, we‘ll be landing with the next track on a distinct planet soon. Once arrived you notice, that it‘s almost as if you could hear the solar winds, when you walk with Pheek through a lost world on the hunt for the unknown. Suddenly you hear a melody, where is it coming from? Turns out Pheek and Hubble brought their secret project EEBB to be launched into the orbit and its emitting sound waves. Watch the probe go into space while Hubble records the biosphere. Spheric noises surround you while following the team back into the spaceship.

All systems running, Hubble sets the coordinates for the trip back to earth. It almost seems like the engine is forming a pounding beat while we lift off. Now it‘s Mr. Neyen‘s turn to keep you entertained on the flight with an amazingly beautiful remix until we safely enter our own atmosphere. Want to be part of the next mission? Get yourself a copy of this wonderful EP and save yourself a place in Mr. Steger‘s Space Capsule!

New releases, radio sets and special guests

Berlin, September 21th, 2011

*Pssst* you didn’t hear it from us, but word on the street is that this friday (23.09.) something wicked is going down in Berlin at Brunnen 70 !

Sebastian Koch and a special agent, Mr. Cabanne himself will show some b2b madness between 23:30 – 07:30, so put on your favorite dancing shoes and prepare yourself for pure minimal and tech-house elitism all night long!

Another thing that is making rounds is our latest vinyl LEET 003 by Cabanne which has received great feedback around the world. We are really happy and excited to finally have this gem out. You have to hurry up to get yourself one of the last copies and at the same time support us to keep vinyl alive!

Naturally we don’t rest and already planned the next vinyl release for the end of this year. Who is it this time? A little peak into of our vinyl schedule shows that LEET 004 will feature Japan’s one and only minimal techno princess Akiko Kiyama, but more details will be kept under wraps for now, so keep your eyes and ears open for news.

Of course our digital releases aren’t on hold either and the next EP by Pheek is already being finalized and prepared for release. We hope to put it out the next few weeks if everything goes as planned. After that we present a new EP by 0x7f with remixes from a few special artist’s that we’ll reveal later. Then we finally get to show you a talented newcomer called Ywi with remixes by Benjamin Fehr and Sil!

We’d also like to point out that you can find our previous radio shows on play.fm. That means you can freely stream the complete sets of our guests like Daniel Bell, Jeremy P. Caulfield, Easy Changes, Benjamin Fehr, Falko Brocksieper, Maayan Nidam, Cesare vs. Disorder, Jan Krüger, Hubble, Mark Henning, Pheek & Stefny, Rudolf, Dilo and many more at anytime you want. Say thank you to Subjunk or buy him a beer for taking the effort to upload them all :)

Now put on your tin foil hats and prepare for the worst, the weekend is near!

Releases, tour dates and lust for more..

Berlin, July 8rd, 2011

It’s summer in Germany and naturally by day time it’s hard to work, but as children of the night we work perfectly fine after midnight. Of course we still find time to work on new releases and we’re especially happy to finally put out our 3rd vinyl record by Cabanne. It’s a pleasure for us to work with him and we feel he’s a perfect addition to the 31337 family! The record is currently being manufactured at Randmuzik and we should hold the first test pressings up into the air around next week. We are still hunting for the perfect cover art though. Aside from that a third of the label management, namely Sebastian Koch, is currently touring the United States and Canada. We should have announced his tour earlier and some dates have already passed (sorry about that!), but here are the remaining events:

09.07.2011 Sebastian Koch @ Kohanim Gallery (Atlanta)
16.07.2011 Sebastian Koch @ Full-Moon-Party Rancho del Rio (Colorado)
23.07.2011 Sebastian Koch @ T.B.A (San Diego) – CANCLED!
23.07.2011 Sebastian Koch @ The Would Shop closing party (Denver)

If you have the chance to attend any of these events, be sure to stop by and party with Sebastian! Anyways, last thing to mention is that we also have a few digital releases planned such as an EP by our Argentinean friend Ywi, Undefault and also a part of the management – 0x7f will prepare a new EP with remixes by Pheek and Sil (Easy Changes). We are also in the process of preparing some merchandise, but more on that later. Lots of exciting things to come, so watch out!

Pheek

First taking interest as a sound enthusiast, Montreal‘s Jean-Patrice Remillard began exploring electronic music in earnest by the early 1990s, teaching himself how to produce and manipulate sounds with software and hardware. Noticed by Hautec Recordings in 1999, the local label released the 12” ERS 1-2-3, Pheek‘s minimal techno collaboration with Mateo Murphy. By 2002 Pheek had produced two critically acclaimed full-length albums and gained a prestigious reputation for his memorable live sets at Epsilonlab events. With his music now turning heads overseas Pheek departed on his first European tour, visiting and performing in over fifteen countries.

Meanwhile, releasing with German netlabel Thinner allowed Jean-Patrice to consort with a group of peers who could provide invaluable aid and assistance. Beginning to build on an international scale, Pheek now finds himself releasing amongst his idols for such renowned labels as Richie Hawtin‘s M_nus imprint, France‘s Telegraph, Denmark‘s Tic Tac Toe or Germany‘s Contexterrior, gaining particular recognition for the unique quality and texture of his sounds. Nourished by his experiences and hoping to construct his own community of likeminded musicians, Pheek founded the Archipel netlabel in 2004.

The immediate support and praise of media and clientele allowed Archipel to quickly achieve a key goal, releasing Pheek and Jesse Somfay‘s Galapagos Excursion Joint 1 as their first vinyl in early 2006. With his little family growing fast, Archipel has now launced the Kalimari sublabel, already at two releases. With Galapagos Excursion Joint becoming a favourite of Sven Vath (it appears on his next mix CD), and Kalimari‘s Mein Tesh included on Matthew Dear‘s Fabric 17 CD, Pheek‘s labels are now firmly ensconced in the international minimal techno and tech-house scene. His live performances and recordings now in widespread demand, Pheek continues to pride himself on building, creating and developping… Art first.
